Mother of 3, Business Woman, Fitness Trainer, Devoted Wife And?...
SATURDAY, March
27th 2004, Adelaide, SA. Kim “dynamite” Lord representing Victoria at Boxing Australia’s ‘Australian Titles’ easily defeated Kristy Rootes to WIN the Australian Amateur Women’s Welterweight Champion 2004 Title.
Born and raised in Echuca, Victoria, paddlesteamer capital of the world, Kim is a much loved and respected boxing talent.
Lady “dynamite”
is recognised by many as arguably the hardest woman puncher
currently in the business. As her reputation preceded her in the
amateur ranks, Kim had great difficulty finding opponents willing to step into the ring. Her management
then changed her fighting name from “Lightning” to “dynamite” to reflect her power.
“Hmm -
A woman who hits hard!!!”

2 times World Heavyweight
Champion
Holder of the Quickest Knockout Ever On Record
A man of very few words.

training session.)

Despite Kim’s imposing style and
growing reputation in the sport of boxing the mother of three is a soft spoken, amicable athlete who manages her own Entertainment Agency.
“I have always played sports, my father was one of those hard Aussie Rules football coaches so I was brought up to compete,”
Kim said. “I played netball early on and then mastered martial arts for three years before taking up boxing.”
“Kim Lord is
the
toughest women boxer I've ever seen!”

Kim defeated his boxer by a TKO in round 1.) |
Like many, Kim enjoys the basics of training but always had a yearning to fight in the ring.
Since she began training with Moama trainer Barry Quinlan four years ago Kim has had
12 amateur fights for 10 wins and recently turned professional.
“I always wanted to fight. It’s the adrenalin rush before and during the fight that I enjoy the
most,” grins Kim with a mischievous glint in her eye.
While her parent’s can’t bring themselves to watch
Kim fight, they support her and look after the children when she has to travel.
Kim’s husband, a renowned
Australian Country-Rock Singer / Songwriter has a number of successful releases to National
Radio but for now has put his music career on hold to help her
achieve her boxing goals. "She's been my backstop for
years," he stated matter-of-factly, "It's now my turn
to do what I can for Kim - you only get one chance to box. I can
go back to a music career later on."
The three children, like my husband, think mum is great although
Kim is not to keen for them to follow in her footsteps.
“They all sing beautifully, they take after their dad,”
Kim remarked.
People often say Kim's
just too "nice" to be a boxer but as polite and quiet as
she is out of the ring she prefers to let her actions speak for
her and would much rather you just read what others, including
some of the sports legends, have to say
about her. Things like...
“This is one tough lady!!! Kim packs a powerful punch, has a
great work ethic and is a tremendous boxing talent. I can’t wait to see
her turn professional.”
Jeff Fenech
Triple World
Champion boxer,
Australian National Boxing Hall of Fame Inaugural Inductee
and trainer of current World Champion boxers

session with Kim at his Marrackville gymnasium.) |
“She’d be the
BEST Woman Welterweight Boxer in Australia
I’ve seen and she’s tough - very tough.”
